Strategic Planning and Policy Advice
The Pitt Review
Sir Michael Pitt’s Review of the 2007 floods, directly quotes evidence submitted by Haycock and the National Trust on the role of land management in flooding. This is now influencing national policy and research.
Defra Burning Review
In 2004, Dr. Nick Haycock was nominated by English Nature to serve on the Defra Upland Science Panel. The result was a revised “Heather and Grass Burning Code” a voluntary code for landowners on upland management.
Regulated Tidal Exchange
Haycock worked with the RSPB to develop strategies for inter-tidal habitat creation. This focused on how to create sustainable inter-tidal habitats whilst strengthening sea defenses. This has been termed Regulated Tidal Exchange.
In addition to our technical consultancy and projects, Haycock are in a powerful position to influence strategic planning and policy development through our unique experience of implementing environmental practices on the ground.
